Alan received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting, sculpture and photography, and a Master of Fine Arts in Cinematography, both from the University of California at Los Angeles. He then went on to earn a Master in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. Before launching his architectural career Alan helped to create a not-for-profit multimedia organization called Visual Communications, which is still in existence today, producing documentary films, books and educational materials.
In 1985 ODS Architecture / Ohashi Design Studio began as a combination of studies in Architecture, furniture and teaching. Designing furniture for Conde House, a company based in Japan, Herman Miller in Michigan and teaching furniture and architecture at UC Berkeley and the California College of Arts filled out the early years of the practice. Transitioning into a pure architectural practice the initial focus was primarily on residential remodel and retail store design. More recently the firm has developed into designing large new custom residences, college campuses and museums incorporating the latest in sustainable technologies.
Philip received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which included studies in Italy. Responsible for the firm’s overall design direction and quality control, he is also a project manager and meticulous detailer. Philip manages the firm’s most complex projects and has a hand in guiding every project as a mentor and collaborator. Born in Guang Zhou, China, he speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin and incorporates fundamental Feng Shui design principles into our projects.
Having grown up in the Sacramento area, Brandin received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is currently managing the design, permitting and construction process for several large custom homes in the Bay Area. Prior to joining us, he was at Hulburd Design and BRR Architecture, San Francisco, and Dreyfuss & Blackford, Sacramento, California. Brandin has passed most of his exams working toward a license to practice architecture in California.
Sean came to us from Aidlin Darling Design with a background in high end residence design, detailing and construction. Sean earned a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from U.C. Berkeley, and worked at Suyama Peterson Deguchi architects in Seattle, Washington and Morimoto Architects in Berkeley. He is a licensed architect in California, and is currently managing the design process for a large project in Wine Country.
Tiffany joined the office in 2013 shortly after receiving Bachelor's of Arts in Architecture from University of California Berkeley. Her prior experience included working at IwamotoScott Architecture and is currently in process for her architecture license in California. Tiffany is involved in several projects in the office and is rapidly gaining experience in all phases of the architectural process. She has also completed several worldwide trips including the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.
Having received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Architecture from University of California Berkeley, Dmitry joined our firm in 2014 and is currently working toward his California architecture license. Dmitry has multiple roles managing architectural design projects and the firm website and maintaining the firm’s online presence. Growing up in Russia and moving to California at a young age has been an advantage in the profession of architecture, giving him a unique cultural perspective. In addition, his experience as a professional Barista provides him with an advantage in working with unique client needs. Prior to joining us, he worked at Jacki Yahn Architects in San Carlos, California.
Elliott came to us from the Berkshires of Massachusetts after receiving his Master of Architecture & Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston. He was with Alan Clark Architect, Hillsdale, New York and prior to that worked in carpentry and construction for Peter Whitehead Builder, Great Barrington & Stangl Associates and Amherst and Merritt Richmond Carpentry in Massachusetts. Elliott is currently working on several new and remodel design projects while learning his way around the Bay Area.
Christopher has had a varied background with classes in the Construction Management Certificate Program at the University of California Davis after receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree at the California College of the Arts, San Francisco. Originally from South Dakota, he has adapted well to the San Francisco Bay Area after spending some time working and living in Chicago. Previously he worked at Verisk Analytics, Chicago, Illinois, Structure + Space, Oakland, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, San Francisco, studio (n-1), Toronto, Canada and Omni Design Group, Inc., San Luis Obispo.
Kasey came directly from her Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley after having received her Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Boston University. Her prior work experience included time at Hood Design, Oakland, the San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design and Minted in Oakland, California. Growing up in the Deep South, then attending schools in Boston and Berkeley has given Kasey a unique architectural background.
Atara received her Masters of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Parsons School of Design in New York. She is LEED AP certified and her prior work experience included Sharchitecture, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois, Apartment Zero, Manna Inc. Design-Build, Lehman Smith McLeish, all in Washington, D.C. Growing up in the East Coast and having traveled extensively, Atara’s keen sense of taste and style has enriched our color and material palette.
